Processing

Delicate manual work, unchanged for centuries — that’s what harvesting coarse sea salt looks like.

It crystallizes on the surface of special pools called salinas, into which ocean water is directed and sealed. The water slowly evaporates under the influence of sun and wind, and salt crystals form on the surface.

The resulting crystals are harvested by hand, without the use of any machines, only with long wooden rakes. Thanks to this, the structure of the salt remains consistent and the salt stays perfectly pure and of the highest quality.

The collection and processing of sea salt — just like pepper in Kampot — is handled by individual small farms. The salt-making tradition is passed down from generation to generation. As a result, the salt is of the highest organic quality, without any need for further refining. And just like with pepper, we buy the salt directly from these farmers to ensure they are fairly rewarded for their hard work.

Similarly to pepper in Kampot, individual small farms are in charge of collecting and processing sea salt. Farming families pass on the tradition of producing sea salt from generation to generation. The salt is therefore in absolute organic quality, without the need for any subsequent refining. And just like with pepper, we buy salt directly from these farmers to make sure they get paid for their hard work.

Usage

Coarse salt 120g

Cambodian 100% natural sea salt is unrefined, coarse-grained, pure salt processed in a traditional and ecological way using the evaporation of water from sea salt flats. You will use it for everyday cooking in your kitchen; for salting, decorating, pickling, preserving or marinating. It is ideal for all types of our grinders. Thanks to its natural composition, this high-quality coarse-grained sea salt has higher nutritional values and will perfectly highlight the flavors in your food.

Sea Salt Flakes - salt pyramids - a selection of the largest Kampot salt flakes crystals 100g

Fine and highest quality salt from the purest Cambodian waters. It is characterized by a unique, flattened shape of flake crystals reminiscent of pyramids. Ecologically collected in the most gentle and sustainable way. Due to the difficulty of collection, flake salt is very rare and limited for this year. The taste is maximally intense with surprising floral accents. Thanks to the careful processing, the crystalline pyramids leave behind a maximum of health-promoting minerals. Due to its specific properties, it is used in the kitchens of chefs all over the world.

Salt flower - Fleur de Sel 100g

Fleur de Sel from Kampot is intended for the final flavoring of products, it does not even need its own grinder, just crush it between your fingers. Fragile crystals dissolve quickly on food, so they support the flavors in the dish. A less salty flower, but all the more fresh, tastier and crispier!

Origin

Perfectly pure, full of flavor and minerals, this is the salt from the salt pans of the Kampot province of Cambodia. The tradition of obtaining sea salt is as deeply rooted in the region as the cultivation of pepper. The conditions here are ideal. The strong sun, the ocean breeze and the friendly climate encouraged the establishment of salt pans and the extraction of salt from the ocean already hundreds of years ago. Its quality can be compared with sea salt from the most famous regions in France or Portugal.
